Providing community living alternatives for people with developmental disabilities has been a core mission of Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE) since our founding in 1977.

We are among the premier providers of residential services on Long Island and among the most successful in enabling our “consumers’ to reach their highest level of independence and community integration. FREE’s residential services are characterized by an unmatched record of changing lives. • Diverse programs that reach out to individuals who are often underserved, such as those with a dual diagnosis of mental illness, those with chemical abuse or extreme behavioral issues, the medically frail and the homeless.
• Continuity of care. Our interdisciplinary team ensures our consumers can access all of the FREE residential, day, vocational, and other services that best meet their needs and preferences.
• Exceptionally trained staff. We have developed training programs that are unique in their breadth and depth. Every FREE employee receives orientation and hands-on training that is far beyond what is typical in our industry.
